About Ramanuja AI

An initiative to digitise the traditional works associated with Sri Ramanuja and to make them accessible through modern, careful interfaces.

What the initiative does

Ramanuja AI works on the digitisation of traditional Sanskrit texts and on the tools that make those texts usable. The work proceeds in layers: source scans are transcribed, corrections are recorded with provenance, navigation is generated from the structure of each work, and readers are built on top of the result.

The public side of the initiative is the Ramanuja App, an offline reader for the works of Sri Ramanuja. It brings Śrībhāṣya, Gitābhāṣya with Tātparyacandrikā, Gītārthasaṅgraharakṣā and the Quotations key into one interface, with search, navigation and an ontology explorer.

Principles

  • Source fidelity: canonical text is protected, and derived data is regenerated rather than edited by hand.
  • Provenance: corrections and derived artifacts are recorded and traceable.
  • Distinction of claims: implemented behaviour, qualification evidence and planned work are reported separately.
  • Accessibility: interfaces are designed to be read comfortably, offline, and without an account.

Who it is for

Students, researchers and interested readers who wish to read and study these texts closely. The tools aim to lower the effort of finding and navigating a passage without altering the text itself.

What is not claimed

This site does not claim institutional affiliation or endorsement, and it does not claim complete coverage of any work. The ontology explorer is a reviewed vertical slice, and verse-level coverage of some works remains partial because the source material is raw OCR. Limitations are stated with each release.
